Lucknow - On October 4, 2023, CSIR Laboratories in Lucknow (CSIR-CDRI, CSIR-NBRI, CSIR-CIMAP, and CSIR-IITR) jointly celebrated the 82nd CSIR Foundation Day at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scientific Convention Center, King George's Medical University (KGMU) Lucknow. The event brought together the Directors of CSIR Labs, scientists, and research scholars, fostering an atmosphere of collaboration and innovation.
On this occasion Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Director-General of CSIR, expressed her enthusiasm for the event through her video message, stating that it brings new energy to the scientific fraternity. She encouraged scientists from across these laboratories to connect, share ideas, and enhance each other's skills, with the potential to lead to new projects, missions, and societal applications.
At the outset of the program Dr. Ajit Shasni, Director, CSIR-NBRI, welcomed all the dignitaries and guests and discussed the genesis of the idea behind this joint celebration i.e., connect, converge, and collaborate which was later addressed by the chief guest and guest of honor also.
Dr. Prabodh Dwivedi, Director of CSIR-CIMAP presented the overview of the accomplishments of all four laboratories. He has shown various examples of achievements which shows how the collaborative efforts converted into success stories and set the examples.
Director of CSIR-CDRI, Dr. Radha Rangarajan, shared her thoughts on this collaborative meeting of CSIR Laboratories. She introduced the guest of honour, Dr. Soniya Nitiyanand, the Vice-Chancellor of King George's Medical College, and Chief Guest Dr. Renu Swarup, former Secretary of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science.
Dr. Soniya Nitiyanand said in her address the Lucknow is a city of knowledge and provide the unique environment for collaborative research. The academic-academic collaboration as well as academic-industry collaboration are the need of hour for sustainable development and is prerequisite to achieve our goals in this Amritkaal.
Dr. Renu Swarup delivered a captivating foundation day oration on "Technological Innovations Addressing Critical Priorities Impacting Society." During her address, she discussed India's plans for the upcoming year, which include building platforms for designing vaccines, developing new antibiotics and veterinary vaccines, advancing clean energy technologies, and more. She discussed technologies innovation which impact affordable healthcare in predictive diagnosis such as treating cancer, cardio, and brain disorder, Maternal & child health and genetic disorder. Dr. Swarup emphasized that the combination of scientific strength and entrepreneurship skills has the potential to transform the country's economy and shape modern societies.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Bhaskar Narayan, Director CSIR-IITR acknowledging the collective efforts and commitment to scientific advancement displayed during this event.
